Hunter For the Hungry- The 2018 season got off to a rocky start. Our previous processor, Stuffy's, closed his business right at the start of deer season. However, after many emails, we were able to secure another processor just in time for the start of gun season. Our current processor is Albemarle Meat Processing. We are thankful they were able to come on board with the Hunters for the Hungry program with such short notice. The Concord Wildlife Alliance also hosted a fundraiser, Give Thanks for Wildlife, in November to raise funds for the Hunters for the Hungry program alongside other projects At the fundraiser attendees donated money to process 10 deer! At present we are donating the processed venison to Cooperative Christian Ministries (CCM). This organization donates the venison to hungry families in the Concord area. After the 2018 deer season our total number of deer donated to CCM is 11, which equals 472 pounds of venison. We are thankful for all the donations, hunters, and cooperation between different non-profits that have made this program successful! However, hopefully the 2019 season will bring more servings of protein for our local community.
