Control Deer Herd Size and Damage to Crops Learn more about deer herd management from NC Wildlife Federation by watching this short video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-f1dL1X6yvk |
Every year farmers' fields sustain a lot of damage from the growing deer populations here in NC. As deer no long have natural enemies the herds can grow out of control. Why is that a problem?
This program provides an outlet for excess venison to be used to feed those in need W |

Past Years
Hunters Feed Cabarrus County 2022 Season
We're just getting started! Come join us at this year's Give Thanks for Wildlife Celebration, and learn more about how you can partner with us in this win-win-win program. Hunters Feed Cabarrus County 2021 Season Thank you to everyone who donated or otherwise supported this program! CWA was able to donate 44 deer to help support hungry families through the Cooperative Christian Ministry. Hunters Feed Cabarrus County 2020 Season In spite of COVID we had a great year in 2020 due to the wonderful support we had through the Give Thanks For Wildlife fundraiser and the hunters who donated legally harvested deer. CWA was able to donate 56 deer or 1714 lbs of venison to help support hungry families through the Cooperative Christian Ministry. Hunters For The Hungry 2019 Season Due to the many people who supported the program, Concord Wildlife Alliance (CWA) was able to significantly expand our role in 2019. The need was clear. We have a surplus of deer, an active community of hunters, and neighbors in need of protein rich food. With the addition of a second processing facility, CWA was able to contribute 67 processed deer or 1,968 pounds of venison to Cooperative Christian Ministry with the help of local hunters in 2019. CWA is pleased to be part of a program which is a win-win for all involved! Many thanks to all who donated money to help us pay for the processing, to the hunters who donated the deer, to Rocky River Game Processing and Albemarle Meat Processing for all their hard work and to Cooperative Christian Ministries (CCM) for accepting and distributing the venison to families in need. A special thanks to our board member, Jack Cox, who worked tirelessly to raise monetary and deer donations. Hunters For the Hungry- 2018 The 2018 season got off to a rocky start. Our previous processor, Stuffy's, closed his business right at the start of deer season. However, after many emails, we were able to secure another processor just in time for the start of gun season. Our current processor is Albemarle Meat Processing. We are thankful they were able to come on board with the Hunters for the Hungry program with such short notice. The Concord Wildlife Alliance also hosted a fundraiser, Give Thanks for Wildlife, in November to raise funds for the Hunters for the Hungry program alongside other projects At the fundraiser attendees donated money to process 10 deer! At present we are donating the processed venison to Cooperative Christian Ministries (CCM). This organization donates the venison to hungry families in the Concord area. After the 2018 deer season our total number of deer donated to CCM is 11, which equals 472 pounds of venison. |
