KIDS IN NATURE DAY

KIDS IN NATURE DAY

Kids in Nature Day (KIND) is a free yearly event held on Saturdays each year at Woodland Discovery located at 8755 Poplar Tent Rd, Concord NC. It takes a lot of volunteers to run this event so be sure to let us know if you can help. There are many activities and educational opportunities available for children of all ages. These include:
  • Hiking
  • Fishing
  • Play areas
  • Educational booths
  • Games
Woodland Discovery Mission:
“Our mission is to provide play-based, outdoor activities to build on children's sense of wonder, exploration, creativity, and self-worth. We believe that this can be accomplished by providing a resource-rich environment that intrigues and captivates the imaginations of children and prompts their desire to delve deeper into the learning process. “

Fishing at the lake is always a popular event! Volunteers are always needed to help kids with the poles and bait.

Educational booths help teach children a variety of topics such as this one with animal skins. The honey bee hive was a great hit with the kids too. Do you have an educational idea to to share with children? Let us know!

September 2021 Kids in Nature Day
Well, we had to reschedule until September but we had a great turn out and a wonderful day at the Woodland Discovery garden this year. Thank to our board member, Ellen for sharing the wonderful world of carnivorous plants this year and to all of the volunteers who helped us to make this a success!!
