In August of 2013 the City Council, on Behalf of the City of Concord, tasked the city management with obtaining the Community Wildlife habitat certification from the National Wildlife Federation. As a result, a select group of citizens interested in helping the city obtain this certification was brought together. After meeting several times, the group realized that obtaining the certification was not enough. There needed to be a long-term plan for continuing to improve the quality of life and the conservation practices within the City of Concord. Thus in April 2014, the group formally established the Concord Wildlife Alliance. The goal was to become a recognized chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation and help the City of Concord obtain the official status of a Community Wildlife Habitat.
The Concord Wildlife Alliance is directed by a board and guided by our mission statement. We are a 501(c)(3) through the North Carolina Wildlife Federation.

The Bigger Picture:
Our chapter is a small part of a larger network of chapters, represented throughout this great state and nation. Concord Wildlife Alliance primarily works with our local governments, schools, businesses, and various civic groups in addition to our larger parent organizations at the state and national levels.
State Level:
North Carolina Wildlife Federation (NCWF). The NCWF works with affiliated member organizations to communicate, cooperate and partner with the NC General Assembly, as well as state resource agencies, corporations, and other interested groups. NCWF oversees and helps the local chapters in North Carolina. NCWF works in affiliation with the National Wildlife Federation to support national and international issues of mutual interest.
National Level:
The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) is America's conservation organization protecting wildlife for our children's future. NWF works with more than four million members, partners and supporters in communities across the country to protect and restore wildlife habitat, confront global warming and connect people with nature. They work closely with those who span the social and political spectrum, but who are connected by a common commitment to conservation.
