Farmers & Communities Manage Deer
The Concord Wildlife Alliance is proud to announce the addition of this NCWF community program for the residents of Concord and surrounding areas. We all know this region is abundant in white-tailed deer and sportsmen that participate in the sport of hunting. With this program we are setup for anyone that wants to help those in need and provide those that hunt the opportunity to also give back to our community.
This new program continues CWA's mission by bringing more awareness for the need for the protection and conservation of sustainable lands with a healthy wildlife habitat. Not only for those that hunt but anyone that may need a meal with a good source of protein. Deer processed with our local program goes directly to your neighbors that need it the most with the help of the Cooperative Christian Ministry's Food Program.
The Farmers & Communities Mange Deer Program brings together farmers, sportsmen and community groups to sustainably manage white-tailed deer, reduce deer damage to crops, increase local farm and community revenue and provide hunter-harvested venison to local food banks and shelters. This program supports deer management, donates about 13,000 pounds of venison each year to feed the hungry in NC communities and serves as a model for farmers and communities across the state struggling with an overabundance of deer.
In 2017 we sponsored 10 vouchers to be used for hunters to have their deer harvested and the meat donated to the local food bank. CWA is wanting to grow this program but it can not do it alone, we can always use donations for the processing and hunters willing to participate.
